Catnip Corner

Catnip Corner

My main passions in life are cats and writing and this new section combines both quite nicely. This blog is the chatty bits which are usually found at the beginning of the Mewsletter and the Scratching Post but in a bid to make both of them more user friendly, I am cutting the chatter and putting it into a blog. I hope that you'll take time out to read them and more importantly, enjoy them! I always welcome feedback so please write to me using the contact us box.

Thank you for reading.

paws for thought

Paws For Thought

a place where you can stop off at any time of the day to rest a while; put your feet up; have a drink and relax – perhaps with your favourite feline on your lap or nearby.

Paws for Thought is a collection of quotations written by people from all walks of life on their passion for cats. I do hope you’ll enjoy them enough that you’ll want to come by often to just sit and find peace with your feline companion while you read.

A Message from Pauline

Sunday afternoon

Hi everyone

my gardenIt’s Sunday afternoon, the sun is out (for a change in the UK), the air is alive with the buzz of insects as they go about their business.  Gibbs is stretched out on the decking with Clive, the neighbour’s cat, a respectful distance away.  Casey is curled into a C shape on my desk, amid all the paperwork and detritus that lives there all year round.  He doesn’t seem to mind that he’s lying on the almost finished manuscript of my book on living with leukaemia.

Having been really unwell again (since Tuesday just gone), I’m reminded yet again, of the plans I make in all good faith, that with one sweep of the hand, just go flying out of the window, never to be seen again.

I do my best each month to update the website towards the end of the month.  I do my utmost to bring interesting articles written by an amazing team of writers here at TDM and Casey and Gibbs and me, of course.  But sometimes, life throws a curveball and there isn’t anything any of us can do.  All I ask is that you hold on, and ‘bear with’ (I hate that overused saying) and we’ll hope to return as normal as possible next time.

June is ADOPT DON’T SHOP month, so if you’re looking to get a new cat – please visit some of the many charities that have thousands of beautiful cats, all waiting hopefully to give you their undying devotion – and probably a gift or two – for the rest of their lives.

Casey and Gibbs were both strays.  I have no idea where they came from or why they left their previous homes, but they are both amazing feline companions.   Casey has always shown a very strong compassionate side, and this was in evidence all this week.  He didn’t leave my side the entire time I’ve been unwell, licking my face, and tapping me on various parts of my body to make sure I was alright.  When he needed a comfort break, Gibbs would suddenly arrive from nowhere, ready to leap on to the sofa and take over until Casey got back.  It was well orchestrated, and I felt blessed to be in such safe paws.

May you feel such a blessing from your own feline and canine companions.

Till the next time

Pauline xxx

A Cats Purr

"Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...

A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves - that we are nice."
