Ceci's Corner

Ceci enjoying her new bedCeci is a very special little lady who lives in Nederland, Texas, with her human Dad, Darren, and her foster brother and sister: Tigger and Gabby.

She has a lot to say on a lot of issues and she’s certainly a feisty little miss.  She is also blind, but that doesn’t deter her from speaking out on what she feels passionate about.

Ceci has her own Facebook page which you can visit here: Ceci the blind kitten

Enjoy!

Ceci the blind kittenI came across a very special kitten recently on Facebook – Ceci – the blind kitten.  She has her own Facebook page (see the link at the bottom of this piece) and she has her own very special adopted Dad – Darren Bailey.  I’m hoping we’ll hear more about Ceci over the coming months.

With foster sister GabbyCeci and her brother were dumped in the parking lot at a Vet's office in Southeast Texas.  She had a very bad respiratory infection, and didn't get to see a vet in time, so it made her eyes rupture.  The very nice Vet had to remove Ceci's eyes to save her life.  He also removed her tear ducts so they wouldn't cause problems later on.  He thought that she was about 2 months old then.  Ceci has had a very rough start in life, but she is doing pretty well now.  Ceci is a brave kitten, and she is full of energy.  On December 14, 2015, a very nice man, asked if he could foster Ceci, and he took her home.  On Christmas Day, Ceci got the best present a kitten could hope for!  Her Foster Dad decided to adopt her!  Ceci lives in Nederland, Texas.  Please share her Facebook page with anyone who you think would enjoy it.

Hi everyone!

GracieWe hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Dad has been very busy at work; he’s a clerk at a Post Office about 35 minutes or so away from our home.

A little over a month ago, we got a new Special Needs sister!  Someone sent Dad a message about a Chihuahua that had been owner-surrendered at Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas.  San Antonio is about 6 hours or so West of where we live.  The dog was at least 20 years old, blind, and deaf.  She had several other medical issues too, most of which were related to the neglect she’d suffered.

Beau and GracieOn his next day off, Dad drove there and adopted her!  Aside from what she’d endured at the hands of her terrible owners, she is reasonably healthy for someone in their 90s!  We decided to name her Gracie.  Gracie has been recovering well since she’s been with us.  She won’t eat most commercial dog food, including the food stuff Beau eats.  Dad either boils chicken thighs for her, cooks ground turkey, or gives her some of the FreshPet fresh dog food (which she recently started eating).  She sleeps a lot, and when it’s warm enough, Dad has started taking her outside sometimes.  We believe that she can really only respond to touch and smell.

Gracie has learned to use our feeders, so Dad doesn’t have to wake her up to eat now.  She eats whenever she wakes on her own.

Merry Christmas from Ceci and her familyMore good news! The repairs on our home are finished, except for sealing some of the new grout.  Dad is cleaning the house and starting to move furniture back into place.  We doubt we’ll get to move back in by Christmas, but we’ll probably get to before the end of the year.  Attached is a pic of our Christmas card.  Dad had them made at the last minute.  Also, pics of Gracie.  Thank you all very much for visiting my page, and for your kindness and support.

Love,

Ceci

CeciHi everyone!

If you're on our usual Christmas card list, we apologise for not doing a big exchange.  Hopefully, we'll pick it up again next year.

We've had a foster cat, Shadow, for several months now, and we're hoping he'll get adopted soon.  Our brother, Franklin, gets a little stressed out with him.  It's not Shadow's fault tho, he had a rough life before we got him.

My 5th Birthday was on October 6th, and my 5th Adoptaversary is tomorrow (Christmas Eve)!  The time sure has flown by!

We hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Love,

Ceci, Tamale, Franklin, Sweetie, Little Man, Beau, and Dad.

Shadow, Franklin and Tamale Sweetie, Franklin and Tamale

Hi everyone!  Please forgive us for not posting much recently.  Dad has had his hands pretty full.

We're all doing well.  January marked a whole year since we lost our oldest brother, Tamale.  It slowly gets easier with time, and then sometimes it hurts like it was yesterday.  Our two fosters, Shadow and Frankie have been here so long now, Dad is afraid that they may never leave!  Who are we kidding?  They're probably going to stay with us.

We've had neighbourhood cats and wildlife coming to eat on our front porch at night, for a long time.  A couple of the cats belong to one of our neighbours, but who knows about the rest.  Dad thinks that they're probably just "community cats" abandoned or dumped.  A few weeks ago, one of them just walked right up to him when he said hi to it.  Since he looks like he's wearing a tuxedo, and March 24th was the 50th Anniversary of the release of the Godfather movie, Dad named him Vito.  Thankfully his SNAP test was clear.  Dad had Vito vaccinated on Monday, March 21st, and microchipped and neutered on Friday, March 25th.  Since Vito seems to enjoy being outside, and we don't really have room to keep him inside long term right now, he'll mostly stay outside.  Dad will bring him in if the weather is going to be bad.

We hope that you all have a very Happy Easter.  As always, thank you all very much for your kindness and support.

Till the next time

Ceci

Ceci and her portraitHi everyone!

We're getting closer to our turn to have the home repairs (from the damage done by Hurricane Harvey) start, but it's still a little ways off.  Dad set up a 33' RV in the driveway, so we'll have a close place to live during the repairs.

My dog brother, Beau, recently injured himself.  He jumped out of the RV and landed on the driveway, dislocating his shoulder!  So far, that seems to be the extent of his injuries.  He'll go for another check up on Friday, January 19th.

My first time in the snowWe've had some strange weather here!  We had snow on several occasions.  It's unusual because it doesn't often snow in Southeast Texas.  My very first time being out in the snow was on December 8th.  I didn't like it very much, but maybe I'll try again soon.

Thank you all very much for reading my letter and visiting my page too.

Love,

Ceci
