Casey on Mum's deskI’ve been purring a lot lately.  I know what you’re thinking.  It has surprised the whiskers off me, as well.  I’m not known for my joie de vivre.  Gibbs said that I probably need to speak to one of those ‘trick-cyclists’ people – you know the ones: they sit on a chair with a notebook, and you lie on the couch and talk about your innermost feelings.  He seems to think I had a repressed kittenhood and that if I talked about it, I might realise that there is fun to be had if I just unlocked my feelings about it.

I snorted and walked away.  ‘Trick-cyclists’ indeed! But Gibbs is more touchy-feely than I am.  He’s always clambering up on Mum’s lap, kneading her thighs and belly to within an inch of their lives before he turns around three times and lies down and naps.  Mum often has dead legs after he’s slept like this for a while, but she never complains.

Oh, I’ve digressed.  About the purring thingy – let me ‘splain.

Mum has got something called ‘Long Covid’ – no, I don’t know what that is either or where you go to get some – and she also has something called ‘zero energy’. Ditto to that as well.  The thing is, she often has busy days where other people expect her to do things for them, and these days are followed by some ‘zero energy’ days.  Then she just lies on the new pink sofa with her eyes closed.  This is when the purring thingy started happening.

Oh, I’ve purred before – now and then, for a few seconds at a time but quietly so no one could hear me.  I was sort of testing it out, I think, to see how it felt and whether I liked it or not.  But when I lie down next to Mum, and I snuggle into her Mum bumps, the purring button must have just automatically switched on and I find myself purring quite loudly at times.  Frightened me the first time it happened.  I thought I was going to ‘splode or something.  Two things happened though, when I started purring like this:

One – Mum sighs and relaxes and Two – I feel good as well. Who knew that purring could be good for you!

If you haven’t already discovered this purring thing, have a go, and see if you like it.  And let me know what you think!  And making Mum feel relaxed is always a good thing, in my book.

Till the next time, take care and keep safe.

Love Casey xx
