My sun boy!
Pulsing ball of dewy light
Gossamer strands of fur
Soft and fragrant as apple blossom
against my cheek.
Oh - and paws of moss stalked me from head
to toe across the duvet in my sickness.
While silken whiskers tickled and dowsed my moods.
Boy bright!
You hunted out every glimmer of joy,
pouncing gleefully on skulking shadows
to release the imprisoned beauty within.
So much more than your modest few kilos,
Plutonium soul mass held in feline captivity.
You – so much more than a cat, as ten years after you left
to birth a star, you still find me in this
long night as I keep vigil on the first anniversary of my
Mother’s death.
