I have discovered after all this time
What I always knew.
That God has fur!
Radiant with the fire of a thousand stars
His hands and feet walk the animal way
With fur as soft as thistledown.
How else could the Divine touch
The aching heart with such compassion?
Or keep vigil on the wounded dying
With dignity and grace?
Or warm our nakedness with unconditional love.
I am in no doubt about this – God has fur!
