Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to all the new subscribers who’ve joined us since the last issue went out.

Today in the UK – where I live in Kent, at least – I have a patch of blue sky when I look out of my window! YAY!!!! The past couple of days have been sunny and warm and the temperature on Sunday was a heady 21 degrees near where I live. Not quite sunbathing weather – still the need for coats – but I did see a few people in shorts, flip flops and skimpy tops. We could still get snow so I hope these foolish folk won’t suffer.

At the moment, I have a rotten cold and am barking like a seal. Casey keeps looking at me with suspicion as he hasn’t seen me really unwell yet, although his nursing skills were called into play a couple of weeks ago. I had just eaten an omelette and within an hour, I suddenly felt very sick. I ran to the bathroom and just made it as the omelette and what seemed like the previous year’s intake came flooding out. I lay on the sofa afterwards and fell asleep. Bless him, he came into the darkened room and climbed up my side and found my face. He sniffed my cheek and then licked it. I felt as if he was monitoring my temperature like Garfield, Timmy and Ollie used to do.

He didn’t leave my side all night, bless him.

The 2015 Cat Calendar Competition:

You still have time to enter this competition if you haven’t already done so. Please make sure that the cat is the main focus in the picture without other distractions going on in the background, the side areas or the foreground.

You have until 20th March to submit your photos: to p.dewberry@ntlworld.com

Dan will choose his preferred 12 once I’ve sent him all the submissions and you will be notified personally at a later date.

PUSSY PROBLEM PAGE:

Squirt – who is the latest feline to join the Daily Mews Feline Correspondent Team – is going to take over the reins once held by the Daily Mewsers and will be available to answer your questions. So if you have any problems, no matter how large, no matter how small – please write to Squirt, c/o p.dewberry@ntlworld.com and I will pass all problems on to him.  He will do the best he can to answer your problems and these will go onto the Pussy Problem Page which originally was fielded by Garfield and all the other Daily Mewsers who, sadly, have gone to the Great Cat in the Sky.  Don’t be shy or bashful; a problem shared is a problem halved and Squirt will draw on his own experiences of living on a wild farm in Scotland to help you.

Speaking of Squirt, his Staff Penel Ashworth, has informed me that Amazon are running another free promotion of Squirt’s book: Reservoir Cats: True stories and Cat’s Eye Views from Squirt on March 16th and 17th. If you haven’t already downloaded Reservoir Cats, you can now do it for free. And don’t forget to leave a review afterwards on Amazon. All reviews help sales and we want Squirt to become a best selling cathor (author) don’t we!

CAPTION COMPETITION:

Doreen Johnson in Canada won the caption competition – congratulations, Doreen – a prize is on its way to you. My thanks, again, to Carolyn Waterson for giving me permission to use Keesa’s picture.

A Cats Purr

"Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...

A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves - that we are nice."
