Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to the first Scratching Post of 2016.  For those of you who have recently joined us, you may be wondering what The Scratching Post is.  Well, sometimes if I have more content to add to the website during the month or if I want to highlight something from the Mewsletter that’s been sent out a couple of weeks previously, I’ll do a mid-month newsletter which I’ve called The Scratching Post.

It isn’t as long as the Mewsletter because it doesn’t contain tons of great articles and stories but it’s still a good read and worth delving into the contents.

About half an hour after I sent out the last Mewsletter – having said that Spring had finally arrived – we had a snow storm!  Oh, it only lasted about 15 minutes, turning to sleety rain or rainy sleet before the sun came out.  I’m very lucky in my office because the sun (when it has made an appearance) bathes the room in sunlight and it actually gets quite warm.  But it’s nice to feel that warm glow (and know it’s not age-related!)   Since then, we’ve had sunshine pretty much every day and the temperature is rising daily. Oh, it won’t last.  Before long, there’ll be an almighty thunder storm which will refresh and freshen up everything making the colours even more intense.

Casey and Gibbs received a package the other day from The Cat Gallery – and they went berserk over this wonderful Valerian Rustling Cushion.

If you haven’t already done so, head over to www.thecatgallery.co.uk right now (but come back to finish reading the Scratching Post!) and buy cat-themed gifts for your friends (or yourself) and a huge range of toys, beds, scratchers and food for your feline friends.  Right now, until the end of May, Ethel’s Humans, Peter and Alison, are giving Daily Mews subscribers a 10% discount so quote TDM10 when you’re at the check-out.  And this isn’t limited to just the UK folks, this is a worldwide venture so wherever you live, you can get this wonderful discount.  Hurry – it ends May 31st.

Don’t forget the Caption Competition and the Book Quiz.  So far I’ve only had two entries for the Caption Comp and none at all for the Book Quiz.  If there are not enough respondents then they will  go, I’m afraid so get your thinking caps on and enter.  It’s for fun – the prohibitive cost of postage unfortunately meant that I had to give up sending out prizes – but winning is still fun.

It’s Mother’s Day in many parts of the world on Sunday, 8th May, so Casey, Gibbs and I would like to wish all of you who are celebrating it, a very happy and Blessed Day.

Until the next time,

Love from

Pauline – Editor-in- Chief

Casey – Editor-in-Chief’s Chief Assistant and Right Pawed Puss

Gibbs – Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief’s Chief Assistant

A Morning Kiss

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
