Friendly and grey with a stripe on his nose,
Stripey is welcome wherever he goes.
First to his supper, and last to be cross,
He loves best to play in the grass and the moss.

His brother is Moische, with fur just as grey,
The two of them playing together all day.
Both of them orphans, they young lost their mother,
But both of them always could love one another.

Now is a sad day with many a tear;
Stripey ran for the road, without any fear,
Meaning to cross it to see something far
Away from his house--to be killed by a car.

He never imagined that danger was there.
In his little world, his people's first care
Was to feed him and pet him, and cat-toys to hurl.
Everyone loved him, in his little world.

The Very Best Toy for Cats

"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise when you jump on it."
