Pippin was a Usual Silver Somali, and a complete softie. From kitten-hood he was incredibly loving and affectionate -- he loved everyone. Except dogs! He loved people, birds, and butterflies. And food... His party trick was to bump heads -- though he did forget how big he was, and sometimes sent my glasses flying!

When he was three, we went to live on Grand Cayman -- he made the trip with his half-sister, Tasha, and Treacle our elderly Siamese. He adapted to living in the tropics with ease and grace, walking every evening on harness and leash and enchanting everyone he met -- especially tourists, who once, seeing him from a distance, mistook him for a miniature Husky! Well, he was a big boy, weighing in at 18 pounds in his prime. He was so cuddly that Treacle would curl up with him against the a/c chill!

When we returned, after four years, he remembered his garden straight away! He soon got back into his routine, although Treacle the Siamese succumbed to kidney failure.

He charmed everyone he met -- show judges, vets, and visitors. He so charmed the lady whose cattery he went to that she has his photo in pride of place!

He was diagnosed with cancer in March 2004 -- and died in his sleep three months later, in June. His body is buried under a rose bush -- but his loving spirit is free to chase around the Universe. If he is napping anywhere, it will be in a sunny spot by the Rainbow Bridge...

Until we can bump heads again, my Silver Boy...
