I am sorry to say that my lovely Tymmy has lost his battle to carry on living. He was so brave.  He was diagnosed with liver failure some two and a half years ago.  He did not respond to treatment and my vet said he would not last very long.

It seemed to me that he wanted to fight and so I looked on the internet for a drug that might help him.  I found some tablets called Doxion.  These seemed to help him enormously and within a short time he was putting on weight and looking much better.

When he went back to the vet she was expecting to be putting him to sleep and was amazed at the transformation in him. She checked his liver and said that it was back to normal size.  He kept in good health until just before Christmas when he was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid.  He went onto tablets and all seemed well.  The next blood test was good but the following one showed a problem with his liver again.  This time the vet said she was almost certain he had cancer of the liver as well.

He came home for palliative care and lived a happy life until the 8th April 2013 when it was obvious that he was not happy.   I do have the happy memory that the previous day he had really enjoyed himself and had helped me do some gardening.  In the evening I had opened a tin of sardines for him which he ate with great relish, so he had another tin.

He is very much missed by us all. He was a wonderful cat who will never be forgotten and it seems very quiet without the clatter of his claws rushing into the kitchen to get to his food.

Sleep well, Tymmy

A Morning Kiss

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
