Dezi on her tree topDezi: Meow everyone, it’s finally here. It’s December and time for Christmas. Now I’ve seen a few Christmases, but this is Raena’s first ever. You know trying to explain everything to her has been a full-time job. And as you all know, me’s a Service Cat for mommy, so me already has a full-time job. Especially since Raena’s still too small for some duties and too “energetic” to be taught how to drive the wheelchair. Me doesn’t know how sis Lexi did it all. Which brings me to mommy’s sad. Our first Christmas without sis Lexi. Oh, mommy’s brave and puts on a big smile to make everything wonderful for Raena and me, but me knows she has the sads.

Raena in the wheelchairRaena: Sissy, I’s not too “energetic”. Mommy says I’s purrfect. And did you tell everybody that I already know how to turn the wheelchair on? I’s do, ya’ know. I’s been turning it on by myself for months now. And I’s know how to honk the horn too.

Dezi: Yeah Raena, you’ve been turning it on alright, and letting the batteries run down because you don’t turn it off.

Raena: That’s not true sissy.? It turns itself off after a few minutes.

Dezi: Yeah, but… Never mind. It’s Christmas time Raena, and that’s what we’re here to talk about today.

Raena: Oh Christmas! Did you tell everybody about our Christmas tree? It has the best tasting flashing lights I’s ever seen.

Raena and the Christmas tree Dezi: You’re not supposed to eat the lights Raena. That’s why we don’t have decorations on the tree and why it looks so bare. Anyways, we wrote our letters to Santa to post on our blog and mommy and me were really touched by your selflessness. We had expected you to go a little crazy since this was your first Christmas and all.

Raena: Well sissy, I’s did think about it. But then I’s thought about how mommy saved me. And I’s remember my first night here at home. There were so many toys. Everywhere I’s turned was something new. There were new beds and plenty of food to eat. I’s remember how I’s felt when mommy picked me up and held me close. Somehow I’s just knew everything was going to be okay, and that I’s was gonna be loved furever. I’s would never have to worry about anything ever again. And then I’s learned about blogging and the internet and about other kitties that live in even worse places than I’s did. How could I’s possibly ask for more. I’s already have the whole world. I’s wish every kitty in the world could have a loving furever home.

Dezi: Me too Raena. Me too. You and me are among the blest. We have a mommy that loves us more than anything. It’s turning cold outside and we have a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over our heads. As you said, we have lots of toys and plenty to eat. We never have to wonder when we’ll eat, much less if we’ll eat. The shelters and rescues are full of cats and kittens just waiting for their furever to start. They’re waiting for someone to love them the way mommy loves us. Now we’re not saying that cats and kittens make good surprise Christmas gifts, because they don’t. But, if after talking it over with the recipient, and them agreeing to make that lifelong commitment, then adopting a new kitty would be the best gift ever. You would be giving the gift of unconditional love. The recipient would be receiving the gift of unconditional love and the kitty would be getting their loving furever.

Raena: And that’s what Christmas is all about, isn’t it sissy?

Bless Dezi and RaenaDezi: Yes Raena, it is. The very first Christmas ever, was because God loved mankind so much that He gave the world His only Son, so that they could find a furever love. Me loves you Raena. Me loves you mommy.

Raena:  I’s love you too, sis Dezi. And I’s really love you mommy.

Mommy A: I love you girls more than anything in this world.

Dezi, Raena and mommy A: We love all of you and wish you the Merriest and blest Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year.

Till the next time……………………………….. Be Blest!!!
